Paint is literally money in a can. When staging your home to sell, there is no quicker way to update & neutralize a space than a fresh coat of paint. And, there may be instances where wallpaper removal is involved.
New Jersey realtor & stager, Michele Rose, recently posted these before & after shots on Active Rain. This seller only had enough in the budget to address the walls & window coverings, but just making those 2 simple changes made a huge difference. It still has lots of pink tile & dated & mismatched fixtures, but the white makes it palatable. The only change I would make would be to loose all those towels on the sink ~ there is truly a really fine line between accessorizing & clutter in a picture.

And, look at what neutral paint ~ & lace removal ~ did for this bath. Oh, & check out the different wallpaper that was on the ceiling ~ I sometimes wonder what some people are thinking?

A friend of mine has a home for sale &, prior to placing it on the market, removed her beloved wallpaper in her dining room & painted it a neutral color. She told me that she hated to loose it, but knew that she had to once she decided to sell. Smart woman.
You may not have the budget to update everything that needs updating, but not addressing the walls could cost you a sale.
