details ~ an engaging white room

by lin ellis on August 18, 2009

I love a white room. I also adore vibrant color. A white room can be tricky ~ without the right elements it can end up being extremely bland & boring. The trick to making a single color palate work is to incorporate texture, sparkle & whimsy into it like this space I found over at Casa Sugar.

Since the furnishings are all modern this room could be very cold ~ it is the lighting, art & decor that bring it to life. I wish I knew the resource for the lighting over the dining table ~ I’ll do some digging & share. The traditional art & the unexpected photo display piece are the perfect juxtaposition to all the modern furniture. I love the selection & placement of the sheep sculpture ~ it is kinda genius. It’s is the addition of little details like that that give a space personal style. Style is in the details.
