staging ~ neutral iron wall art

by lin ellis on June 24, 2009

When staging your home for sale, it is important to analyze what is hanging on your walls. You should remove all family pictures or art that is extremely taste specific. If every surface has something hung on it, then editing & prepacking are in order as you want buyers looking at the house & what it offers them, not being distracted by your stuff. A well balanced room should always have some blank space for the eye to rest.

Left with some “naked” spaces? I have lots of posts planned on creative wall art that is very affordable ~ for staging or for just a style update.

Iron wall art or mirrors are a great staging option. Look for items that are not overly ornate, but rather are more taste neutral, yet stylish & will work in a variety of spaces & ways. These are all from Pier One ~ they just started a big 50% off sale ~ but stores like Homegoods, T. J. Maxx & Marshall’s all have an ever rotating selection of metal wall decor that is budget friendly.

This handmade 20′ x 54″ iron scroll panel is on clearance for $50- & can be hung vertically or horizontally. Have a large space, then purchase 2 or 3 & really make a statement. Lean them on or hang them above a fireplace mantle. They can be used in an entry, living or dining spaces ~ or even could become a headboard.

This is not on sale, but at only 29- can be used in similar ways.

This scroll is $30-

Need a little something-something somehwere? This is only $19-. I can also see 2 of these flanking some complementary art.

And, for only $100-, this 41″ diameter mirror could add a little drama to a multitude of spaces.

Never buy anything you don’t love & that you cannot envision using in your next residence ~ especially since it becomes just one more thing to pack & move! But again, the goal in staging is to appeal to your target buyer, so the design choices that are made when staging may be slightly at odds with the way you have lived there.
